What a busy half term! The children have settled really well into life at school and are enjoying all of the new activities and challenges that are on offer.
This half term our topic is called ‘Festivals of Light.’ We will be finding out about all of the amazing festivals that take place at this time of year. We will be looking at: Diwali, making lots of exciting things to learn how this is celebrated. We will be sharing the story of Room on the Broom, and making spells and potions, along with finding out all about Bonfire Night, Hanukkah and Christmas.
We ask that parents ensure P.E kit is in school all week and sent home as required for washing through the term and at the end of a half term. The children will start getting changed very shortly, so any help you can give in preparing them for this would be greatly appreciated.
Mrs Johnson’s class have PE on a Thursday.
Mrs Cran’s class have PE on a Thursday.
The main focus of our homework will be reading and phonics. Please read regularly at home with your child. At least 3 times a week will ensure they achieve the regular reader award. Please record each time you read in their reading diary. Each week we will send home the new sounds and ‘Red’ words that we have learnt and some activities to complete. We will also send some online homework to be completed on our Busythings subscription. Once a half term there will be a optional creative task for you to complete with your child. We will send out other optional whole school homework through the year.
