This term we will be continuing our learning all about The Great Fire of London in our History-based topic 'London's Burning'. We even have a modern day fireman coming to visit to enrich this topic.
Alongside this in English, we will be reading 'Charlie and the Great Fire of London' and other related non-fiction texts. Linking to these text, we will be writing an explanation text, a narrative and even a poem about the Great Fire of London. The children will be focussing on continuing to apply basic punctuation, using conjunctions, contractions and adverbials.
In Maths, we will learning all about length, height, mass, capacity and temperature.. We will be continuing to practise our arithmetic skills by adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing numbers up to 100. As well as, continuing to practise our multiplication facts for 2s, 5s and 10s!
We ask that parents ensure P.E kit is in school all week and sent home as required for washing through the term and at the end of a half term. A reminder that we ask that parents to send their child with a warm jumper and jogging bottoms for outdoor P.E sessions.
Mrs Woodward's class have PE on a Tuesday and Friday.
Mr Pratt's class have PE on a Tuesday and Thursday.
This half term, the children will continue to take part in our Regular Readers initiative. We would like to remind parents that children need to read 3 times throughout the week in order for children to earn their Dojos and earn their invitation to this term's film showing, for consistently being a regular reader, during the last week of term.
Weekly homework will be set on a Monday and due in the following Monday. Please check in your child’s home school diary for the insert each week - this will also be set out via WEDUC to parents each week. Your child will also be given weekly spellings on a Monday. These spellings will then be tested on the following Monday during our weekly spelling lesson. Times Tables Rockstars logins are stuck in the back of Home School Diaries, please encourage your children to practise as often as possible.
