Welcome back Year 3!
Miss Newton, Miss Hunt and Mrs McConnell are very excited for another brilliant half term of learning!
Curriculum:
This term, our topic is called 'Poles Apart'. This is our first geography-based topic of the year! We will be learning all about the Arctic and Antarctic Circle, using maps, atlases, globes and digital mapping to locate these areas and describe their features. In science lessons, we will be learning about the different animals who live in these areas and how they are suited to doing so. We will also be looking at skeletons of animals and humans in science and how these, along with muscles, offer us support, protection and movement. We will be drawing polar animals in our art lessons and will be designing an insulating outfit for cold weather in DT.

PE Days:
We ask that parents ensure that P.E kit is in school all week and sent home as required for washing through the term and at the end of a half term. A reminder that we ask that parents send their child with a warm jumper and jogging bottoms for outdoor P.E sessions.
Miss Newton's P.E day is a Wednesday and Miss Hunt and Mrs McConnell's P.E days are Wednesday and Friday.
Reading:
We were so impressed in the Autumn Term with the children's commitment to reading 3 times a week or more at home to become a 'regular reader'. We hope this is continued this half term
