We hope you have had a restful half term break!
This term we will be learning all about the electricity in our Science-based topic 'Ouch! Zap! Ping!’
Alongside this in English, we will be reading a biography about Thomas Edison by Margaret Frith. Linking to this text, we will be writing a biography, explanation and poetry.
In Maths, we will be continuing our learning about place value including reading, writing and partitioning numbers up to 10,000. Alongside this, we will be focusing on our times tables and learning these off by heart ready for our multiplication check in the summer.
Other areas of the curriculum this term include researching the artist Walter Demaria and creating a piece of lightning art as well as continuing with our Geography lessons where we will compare the East Midlands region to the Campania region in Italy.
PE Days
We ask that parents ensure P.E kit is in school all week and sent home as required for washing through the term and at the end of a half term. A reminder that we ask that parents to send their child with a warm jumper and jogging bottoms for outdoor P.E sessions.
Mrs Thompson and Mrs Wicks' class have PE on a Wednesday and Friday.
Miss Porter's class have PE on a Monday and Wednesday.
Reading
This half term, the children will continue to take part in our Regular Readers initiative. We would like to remind parents that children need to read 3 times throughout the week in order for children to earn their Dojos and earn their invitation to this term's film showing, for consistently being a regular reader, during the last week of term.
Homework
Weekly homework will be set on a Monday and due in the following Monday. Please check in your child’s home school diary for the insert each week - this will also be set out via WEDUC to parents each week. Your child will also be given weekly spellings on a Monday. These spellings will then be tested on the following Monday during our weekly spelling lesson. Times Tables Rockstars logins are stuck in the Home School Diaries, please encourage your children to practise as often as possible.
