Our topic this half term is Chopsticks! We will be focusing on The Willow Pattern Story and The Shang Dynasty. The children have already enjoyed exploring The Willow Pattern Story by Allan Drummond. Over the coming weeks, we will be creating our own Willow Pattern Story, investigating the history behind The Shang Dynasty and exploring the colours and patterns of traditional Chinese art. We will be having a focus day during this half term, during this day we will be engaging in cooking, Design and Technology and Art. We are all looking forward to celebrating Chinese New Year as part of this half term too!

We are continually working on and practising our times tables in preparation for the Year 4 Multiplication Check. The children are encouraged to regularly test their times tables knowledge to see how they have improved and what they need to work on next! Please use the children's times table packs for fun and exciting ways of revising times tables up to 12x12.
In addition to practising times tables, we are also regularly revisiting and working on spelling the Year 3 and 4 Common Exception Words to ensure all of the children can spell, define and use these words accurately. Please refer to the back of the homework book for a copy of these spellings. The children are regularly tested in class as part of our ongoing English assessments.
We ask that parents ensure that PE kit is in school all week and sent home as required for washing through the term and at the end of a half term. A reminder that as the weather gets colder, we ask that parents send their child with a warm jumper and jogging bottoms for outdoor PE sessions. Mrs Atkinson's class have PE on Monday's and Friday's. Miss Eccleshall's class have PE on Wednesday's and Friday's.
If you have any concerns, questions or queries about your child's progress, please get in touch via WEDUC or the office.
