It is fantastic to be back in the classroom with our wonderful Year 4 children. They have worked extremely hard during online learning and we are very proud of their effort and determination to continue to learn from home. Thank you to all of the children, parents, grandparents and siblings for all of your hard work during the Spring term!
Our topic this half term is 'Home Sweet Home'. We will be continuing to focus on the history of The Vikings and their settlements as well as learnig about living things and habitats in Sciecne. The children will be focussing on paintings by John Constable through his landscape artwork. In English, we will be using a video about moving houses whilst working towards a narrative recount and a non-chronolgical report. Have a look at the video we will be using: Home Sweet Home Video
We are continually working on and practising our times tables in preparation for the Year 4 Multiplication Check. The children are encouraged to regularly test their times tables knowledge to see how they have improved and what they need to work on next! Please use the children's times table packs for fun and exciting ways of revising times tables up to 12x12. We are regularly 'battling' against other classes and year groups in school on Times Tables Rockstars, please encourage your child to play as often as they can!
In addition to practising times tables, we are also regularly revisiting and working on spelling the Year 3 and 4 Common Exception Words to ensure all of the children can spell, define and use these words accurately. Please refer to the back of the homework book for a copy of these spellings. The children are regularly tested in class as part of our ongoing English assessments.
We ask that parents ensure that PE kit is in school all week and sent home as required for washing through the term and at the end of a half term. Mrs Atkinson's class have PE on Monday's and Friday's. Miss Eccleshall's class have PE on Tuesday's and Friday's.
If you have any concerns, questions or queries about your child's progress, please get in touch via WEDUC or the office.
