Miss Hawksworth and Mr Pratt are very much look forward to returning to school for our last half of the Summer term. Year 5 have worked extremely hard so far this year and we hope they return with this same excellent mind-set. Since returning to school, we have been incredibly proud of their achievments both in academic outcomes and in their charcacter development. Last term, we had lots of fun, engaging activities: Science week, growing ingridents and cooking frittatas; 'Around the world' Geography day, exploring the Carribean and painting sea turtles; and, celebrating Ramadan, researching the five pillars of Islam and creating an observational drawring collage of a Mosque.
We would like to remind parents that children are expected to read a minimum of 3 times per week, which should be school banded books or using Bug Club, and this must be noted and signed in the diary in order to participate in the weekly competition.
We look forward to another successful term ahead. Thank you for your ongoing continued support to our school community.
This term, we will be continuing our topic called ‘Olympus Odyssey’. Where we will be continuing to learn all about the Ancient Greeks focussing on early European civilisation, Greek mythology and Greece itself. We will be enriching this topic by reading various non-fiction texts and ‘Who Let the Gods Out’ by Maz Evans.
We ask that parents ensure that PE kit is in school all week and sent home as required for washing through the term and at the end of a half term. A reminder that as the weather gets warmer, we ask that parents send their child with a suitable pair of PE outdoor shoes which differ to their normal outdoor shoes.
Year 5’s PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday weekly.
Children should bring their PE kits in on Monday and return home on Friday for washing.
