Miss Brailsford and Miss Busby are the Year 1 teachers for 2019-20
There are also a number of Learning Support Assistants and Higher Level Teaching Assistants who cover the classes from time to time.
The children have had a fantastic start to the term and we have already learnt lots! Our topic this half term is 'Fantastic me' and we have been thinking all about ourselves and our bodies.
In Science, we have been looking at our senses and conducted a smelling experiment. The children had to guess what was in different pots using only their sense of smell. The children were fantastic at making predictions and asking questions.
We also had a go at drawing around ourselves and labelling our body parts.
In Maths we have been trying really hard to learn our number bonds to 10 and have been playing 'Hit the button' to help us practise! Our score to beat is 20/20! Click on the link below to play at home.

Our topic this term has been Animal Kingdom. We decided to take the children to Ash End Farm to introduce this topic, we had a fabulous day! The children got to take part in lots of different activities including feeding lots of animals and a tracttor ride. We even got some time in the soft play area!
We have had a lot of fun making friendship biscuits as part of Anti-Bullying week! We made biscuits, decorated them and then we decided that it would be nice to give our biscuit to a child in our class that we don't usually play with, as a reminder that "just because we don't play together, we are still friends."
We had a fantastic time on Christmas Craft morning. The children loved desgining their own clay pot and then making it with their families! Afterwards we evaluated the end producted, concentrating on what went well and what we might change for next time.
Thank you for your continued support this term and have a wonderful Christmas!
