Below is our curriculum map for you to see what we will be learning throughout the academic year.
An Insight into the Spring Term:
In the Spring term, we are excited to announce that we will be learning all about the Ancient Egyptians in a topic called 'Pharaoh's Fate'. This will include learning about Egyptian hieroglyphics, monarchy and early civilisation. In addition, we are hoping to visit the New Walk Museum to view their fantastic Egyptian exhibitian.
English this term will be linked to our 'Pharaoh's Fate' topic. Therefore, the main class texts we will be exploring will be 'The Egyptian Cinderalla' and 'Pharaoh's Fate' plus many more! We will be continuing to expose pupils to a wide-range of text genres and writing will focus on equipping pupils to write a Traditional Tale and Non-Chronological Report.
In addition, we will be sending spelling lists home this term to support you and your child to identify spelling patterns that would benefit each individual pupil to continue to practise as part of their weekly homework.
Pupils will continute to have discrete arithmetic sessions with the focus on securing their understanding of number bonds and their times tables (2x, 10x, 3x, 4x and 8x). Throughout the first Spring term we will also be exploring mathematical relationships in Number and Place Value, Addition and Subtraction, Multiplication and Division, Time, Properties of Shapes and Position and Direction.
We would very much appreciate allowing your pupils to continue practising their Strawberry Jam and Lemon Curd sheets and playing TTRockstars at home to secure their speed, accuracy and genreal mathmatical fluency.
