Autumn Term 2 2026

Curriculum

This half term our topic is 'Festivals of Light'! We will be finding out about all the amazing festivals that take place at this time of year. We will start of the topic looking at Diwali and making lots of exciting things to learn how this is celebrated. We will be sharing the story of 'Room on the Broom', and making spells and potions, along with finding out all about Bonfire Night, Hanukkah and Christmas. 

We also can't wait to start rehearsing for our Christmas Nativity! 

PE Days

We ask that parents ensure PE kits are back in school straight after half term. These will remain in school all week and will be sent home again at the end of the half term for washing. The children are working hard at getting themselves changed for PE, but any help you can give them in preparing for this would be greatly appreciated. 

Both classes will continue to have their PE sessions on Friday’s. 

Forest Schools

The children will be beginning their forest school sessions this half term on a Friday morning. Miss Dance's class will begin on the 30th of October for four weeks and Miss Marlow's will begin on the 27th of November until the end of the term.

Please look out on Weduc for information regarding forest school clothing. Children’s wellies will remain at school.

Reading

Please support your child to read one of their reading books at least three times per week, and record in their home-school diary, for us to celebrate in school.

As the phonics scheme books get longer you may want to read part of the book during one session and finish it at another session. 

Thank you for your continued support in encouraging a love of reading at home.

Homework

The main focus of our homework will continue to be reading and phonics. Each week, we will continue to send home new sounds and you will now see some 'Red' words (tricky) on the homework sheet that we have learnt. Please help your child to read these words by sight as they cannot blend them.
