We are pleased to announce our extra curricular offer to pupils during Spring 1, 2021. ...
We are extremely proud of our curriculum at Newcroft, which has been developed with our teachers around the National Curriculum, our childrens' interests and their barriers to learning.
We are lucky to be located in Charnwood, Leicestershire, with the countryside and towns and large cities nearby. We have developed our curriculum to take full advantage of what is on offer locally, which in turn to helps us to provide excellent enrichment opportunities to build our pupils' cultural capital.
On the left toolbar, you will find more detail about each subject we teach in school.
At Newcroft Primary Academy, we offer all children high quality learning experiences to ensure all pupils are well-equipped for the next stages in their education and for their futures. Our creative and challenging curriculum has been organised through a 'topic based' approach, which incorporates the key knowledge, skills and vocabulary set out in the National Curriculum. We set high expectations of learners to enable them to build their independence, resilience and increase their cultural capital. Reading is at the core of our school, helping to unlock potential and opening doors to endless possibilities.
Our curriculum is implemented through engaging cross curricular topics, which embed the key skills and knowledge set out in the National Curriculum. We provide a range of engaging enrichment opportunities to bring topics to life and to build on pupils ‘cultural capital. Each year group and subject have dedicated curriculum maps, which clearly outline the progression of skills and knowledge we expect our pupils to acquire.
Prior knowledge is assessed at the beginning of each topic through pupil topic maps, which allows us to monitor progression in knowledge and skills. We revisit prior learning using knowledge organisers to support pupils in retaining information.
We develop character and behaviours through our whole school vision and curriculum, to enable our pupils to become effective learners and to prepare them for their futures.
Pupil topic maps will show the knowledge and skills pupils have acquired by the end of a topic.
Summative assessments will show the knowledge and skills pupils have acquired.
Chidlren will commit key knowledge to their long term memories and will be able to recall information from prior learning.
Children will develop a love learning and display the attitudes and behaviours to succeed.
