We are thrilled to announce that we have been rated as 'outstanding in all areas...
Welcome back! We hope that you had a lovely half term.
Curriculum:
This half term, our topic is “How do I keep healthy?”. We will be using a range of texts such as ‘Keeping Healthy’ and ‘Oliver’s Vegetables’ to help develop the children’s understanding of the importance of staying healthy. Throughout the topic, we will explore exercise and being active, dental health, wellbeing and healthy eating through a variety of engaging activities and discussions. Alongside this, we will continue to develop the children’s reading, writing and maths skills across the curriculum. We will also be supporting the children as they prepare for their transition into Year One, helping them to build confidence and independence for this exciting next step.
PE Days:
We ask that parents ensure PE kits are back in school straight after the half term. These will remain in school all week and will be sent home again at the end of the half term. The children are working hard at getting themselves changed for PE, but any help you can give them in continuing to support them in this would be greatly appreciated.
Miss Dance's class have PE on a Thursday and Friday.
Miss Marlow's class have PE on a Monday and Thursday.
Forest Schools:
The children are really enjoying their forest school sessions. This half term, the classes will continue to alternate going to Forest Schools on a Tuesday afternoon.
The children will still be changing into their own clothes, which they will go home in, so please bring back the forest school clothes once washed ready for the next session! Now the weather is nice, occasionally we all go together, so it’s helpful to have their kit in school most days in case we decide to go into the forest!
Reading:
Please support your child to read one of their reading books at least three times per week, and record in their home-school diary, for us to celebrate in school.
As the phonics scheme books get longer you may want to read part of the book during one session and finish it at another session.
Thank you for your continued support in encouraging a love of reading at home.
Homework:
The main focus of our homework will continue to be reading and phonics. Each week, we will continue to send home new sounds and 'Red' words (tricky) on the homework sheet that we have learnt. Please help your child to read the ‘red words’ by sight as they cannot blend them. We will also send an activity linked to either maths or reading. Do look out in the home-school diary for occasional optional homework for children to complete.
