This half term our topic is called 'Nurturing Nurses' and it is a history-based topic of learning. We will be looking at the history of nursing, and how some famous nurses helped improve hospitals and medical care.
In English, our reading texts will be 'Little Red ’by Bethan Woollvin, and ‘The True Story of the Three Little Pigs’ by Jon Scieszka. The children will be writing descriptions, newspaper reports, diary entries and poetry.
In Maths, we will be learning about addition and subtraction with 2 digit numbers and across a 10. We begin learning our times tables in Year 2 with focuses on 2s, 5s and 10s - the children will also play on Times Tables Rockstars to support their practice and mathematical development.
Across the curriculum, other areas of learning includes Materials in Science, and What do Candles mean to People?’' in RE.
In November we have our trip to the National Justice Museum and caves in Nottingham. Please complete the permission forms if you haven’t already.
It is Year 2’s half term for doing Forest School. This will be on a Friday for both classes. Please look at the Weduc that has already been sent for details of clothing that the children need to bring.
Mrs Woodward's class have PE twice on a Friday.
Mrs Cran's class have PE on a Tuesday and Friday.
This half term, the children will continue to take part in our Regular Readers initiative. We would like to remind parents that children need to read 3 times throughout the week in order for children to earn their Dojos and earn their invitation to this term's film showing, for consistently being a regular reader, during the last week of term.
Weekly homework will be set on a Monday and due in the following Monday. Please check in your child’s home school diary for the insert each week - this will also be set out via WEDUC to parents each week. Your child will also be given weekly spellings on a Monday. These spellings will then be tested on the following Monday during our weekly spelling lesson. Times Tables Rockstars logins are stuck in the back of Home School Diaries, please encourage your children to practise as often as possible.
