This half term, our topic is Mighty Maya! The children will be learning about the Maya civilisation and comparing how the early civilisation lived alongside the Anglo-Saxons. Within our topic, we will be creating our vey own Day of the Dead masks in design and technology, learning about central America in the present day. To enrich their understanding, the children will also be reading Curse of the Maya by Johnny Pearce and Andy Loneragan in English lessons, using the text as inspiration for a range of exciting writing opportunities.
Mr Akiens' class has PE on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Mr Pratt's class has PE on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Please ensure that children have the correct PE kit, suitable for both indoor and outdoor activities.
This half term, the children will continue to take part in our Regular Readers initiative.
To qualify for the Regular Reader Treat at the end of term, children need to read at least three times each week. We kindly ask that each reading session is recorded in their home–school diary, as this helps us to keep track of their progress and celebrate their efforts.
Thank you so much for your continued support in encouraging a love of reading at home.
The children have homework set weekly, in both English and Maths. This homework is set on a Monday and will be due the following Monday. Year 6 complete most of their homework online. Sometimes, SATs papers may be sent home for revision.
We also encourage the children to read three times weekly, as part of our Regular Readers competition, as well as learning their weekly spellings. Weekly spellings will be tested on a Monday.
The children also need to play on TTRS each week as part of their homework.
