Welcome to Year 3! We hope you had a wonderful half term! This half term, Year 3’s topic continues with a history focus on Stone Age. The children will be reading Stig of the Dump by Clive King, using the text to write letters, diaries, and descriptive setting pieces. Our teachers are excited to see the ambitious vocabulary the children will use in their writing. In PE, the children will be covering Dance, Yoga, Basketball, and Netball. In DT, they will be making their very own vegetable tarts using seasonal vegetables, where they will design, create, and evaluate their choices. In Science, the focus will be on nutrition and diets, food waste, and rocks. We’re looking forward to a great half term ahead before the Christmas holidays!
Miss Lloyd’s class has PE on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Mr Preece’s class has PE on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Please ensure that children have the correct PE kit, suitable for both indoor and outdoor activities.
This half term, children will continue to take part in our Regular Readers initiative.
We kindly remind parents that children need to read at least three times per week to qualify for the Regular Reader Treat at the end of the term. This reward celebrates those who have consistently met the reading expectation throughout the half term.
Thank you for your continued support in encouraging a love of reading at home!
Thank you for supporting your children to complete the Stone Age recipes.
The children will continue to receive weekly spellings on Mondays and tested on the following Monday. These spellings are taught in school during that week by the class teacher.
Children need to practise games on Times Table Rockstars three times a week. The children's login information can be found inside their diary.
