Today, our school came together to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of VE Day, filled with joy, reflection, and remembrance. Dressed in vibrant red, white, and blue, pupils embraced the spirit of Victory in Europe by participating a picnic-style street party, eating a sweet treat and learning to dance the Lindy Hop just as people did during the wartime era echoing the celebratory spirit of 1945. In addition pupils have delved into primary sources, gaining an authentic glimpse into history. Pupils also came together to perform "I'll Remember," a heartfelt song composed by Simon Haw MBE, paying tribute to those who fought for peace.
This experience has strengthened our understanding of the five British Values—democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance—as we reflected on the freedoms won through sacrifice, the importance of unity, and the need to uphold these values in our own lives. It has truly been a day of celebration, learning and gratitude, ensuring the legacy of VE Day lives on for generations to come.
