Welcome to Year 4!
This half term, Year 4 will be studying their brand-new topic, ‘Trip Advisor,’ where they will be exploring different mountain ranges from around the world. They will investigate where these mountains are located, how they were formed, and what makes them special. In English lessons, the class will be reading the exciting adventure story Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne. This classic tale follows the incredible journey of Phileas Fogg as he attempts to travel around the world in just eighty days. The story will inspire the children’s imagination and help them think about travel, exploration, and the different cultures found across the globe. Art will also play a big role in this topic. The children will be creating beautiful landscape paintings inspired by the environments they study. They will have the opportunity to experiment with a wide variety of artistic media, such as watercolours, pastels, and pencils, learning different techniques along the way. After practising these skills, each child will create a final landscape piece that showcases everything they have learned.
Mrs Hawksworth's PE days are Wednesday and Friday.
Mrs Thompson and Mrs Pridmore's PE days are Wednesday and Thursday.
Please ensure that your child's PE kid remains in school throughout the week.
This half term, children will continue to take part in our Regular Readers initiative.
We kindly remind parents that children need to read at least three times per week to qualify for the Regular Reader Treat at the end of the term. This reward celebrates those who have consistently met the reading expectation throughout the half term.
Thank you for your continued support in encouraging a love of reading at home!
All homework is set on a Monday and will be due the following Monday.
The children have homework set weekly, in either English or Mathematics.
We also encourage the children to read three times weekly, as part of our Regular Readers competition.
Spellings are also given out weekly, on a Monday, and will be tested on the following Monday; the spelling rule linked to the weekly spellings is taught by the class teacher.
The children also need to play on TTRS each week as part of their homework.
