This half term, our topic is World War Two. The children will be learning about life in Britain during the war and exploring how the conflict affected people both at home and abroad. As part of our topic, pupils will create their own World War Two–inspired propaganda posters in Art and Design, developing their understanding of how images and messages were used to influence public opinion. To enrich their learning, the children will be reading The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne in English lessons, using the text to inspire thoughtful discussion and a range of engaging writing opportunities.
Mr Akiens' class has PE on Wednesday and Friday.
Mr Pratt's class has PE on Monday and Friday.
Please ensure that children have the correct PE kit, suitable for both indoor and outdoor activities.
This half term, the children will continue to take part in our Regular Readers initiative.
To qualify for the Regular Reader Treat at the end of term, children need to read at least three times each week. We kindly ask that each reading session is recorded in their home–school diary, as this helps us to keep track of their progress and celebrate their efforts.
Thank you so much for your continued support in encouraging a love of reading at home.
The children have homework set weekly, in both English and Maths. This homework is set on a Monday and will be due the following Monday. Year 6 complete most of their homework online. Sometimes, SATs papers may be sent home for revision.
We also encourage the children to read three times weekly, as part of our Regular Readers competition, as well as learning their weekly spellings. Weekly spellings will be tested on a Monday.
The children also need to play on TTRS each week as part of their homework.
