Newcroft celebrates its 40th birthday!

On Wednesday 26th October 2022, we had a wonderful day celebrating the schools 40th birthday. The children loved learning about our school's very interesting history!

Our school first started at Sheepshed British school in 1875 in Charnwood Baptist Chapel on Charnwood Road. The school then moved to the Co-Op site in Shepshed in 1884 and became Hall Croft School. We moved to our Trueway Drive site on 26th October 1982, 40 years ago. 

We are really lucky to have found ex head teacher's diaries, admissions books, photos, site pictures and maps in school. Children of all ages enjoyed looking for relatives in the pictures. A favourite was finding pictures of staff who are still with us at school now!

We celebrated the day by visiting the pop up 40th birthday exhibition and taking commemorative photos of each class. Pupils took part in a quiz about the school's history and also had birthday cake for their pudding at lunchtime. Thank you to all the parents who sent in memorabilia for their child to share with their class from their own days at Newcroft. 

It really was a special day, enjoyed by our whole school community. We look forward to sharing more photos on our Autumn 2 news letter.
